In Settings -> Booking engines -> General Options, you can choose default settings for sending out emails and SMS. Here’s a breakdown:
Sending Emails by Default
- The “Send automated emails” option in each booking’s “Edit contact details” section will be enabled by default, but your staff can disable it.
- Automated email templates set under Settings -> Communications will be sent out automatically, provided the guest’s email is included in the booking.
Note: To ensure you have the guest’s email, go to Settings -> Booking engines -> Adjust default fields and set “Email” to “Required for guests”.
Sending SMS by default
- In the public booking engine, the “Send me SMS confirmation” option will be enabled by default, though guests can opt-out.
- The “Send automated text messages” option within each booking’s “Edit contact details” will also be on by default, but can be turned off by your staff.
- SMS templates set to be sent automatically under Settings -> Communications will go out by default if the guest’s phone number is provided in the booking.
Note: To ensure you have the guest’s phone number, go to Settings -> Booking engines -> Adjust default fields and set “Phone” to “Required for guests”.
Default Confirmation Email for Front Desk Bookings
- The “Send confirmation email” option for new front desk bookings will be activated by default, but your staff can choose to disable it.
Note: Confirmation emails for bookings made via the public booking engine are mandatory if the guest’s email is in the booking and cannot be turned off.
